Ever wondered what is the big deal about gluten and gluten-free foods? Let us give you a quick breakdown on why it matters, and why Mild to Wild cares enough to make the best gluten-free barbecue sauces.
What is gluten anyway?
Interestingly enough, the word gluten is a mix of elastic proteins that exist naturally in grains and types of grain. It is also what makes bread “doughy.” The point is that some folks just can’t digest it, and some other folks become allergic to it. The reason behind this is that the proteins in gluten are irritants to the belly, and tend to hit it right on the lining. Think about Celiac disease, Crohn’s, and other belly problems that are quite harsh if you do not identify the source of the problem
Do not fret. We got you covered!
Gluten does not occur in corn starch, which is the thickener of choice in Mild to Wild barbecue sauces. We also believe in using 100% natural ingredients. This means zero preservatives or artificial sweeteners.
Here are some other words you will not see printed on our labels:
- flavoring – Our flavors come straight from the stuff that the source is made of. No need for artificial flavoring.
- emulsified- This is a production process that may involve the use of gluten protein.
- stabilized -This is another process that involves the protein.
- starch- Unless it is cornstarch, which contains no gluten.
The ingredients in our gluten-free barbecue sauces are so high quality that less is more. Our typical barbecue sauce has, as its base, our traditional secret blend of spices, tomato paste, brown sugar, vinegar, and cornstarch to thicken. Our ingredients vary according to flavor, but none of the naturally fresh taste is every sacrificed.
